Pioneers in Composites

From modest beginnings in 1948 in Ashtabula, Ohio, MFG has grown to an international presence in the field of composites manufacturing. Today the company is a thriving enterprise that includes 15 entities throughout the United States and Mexico. MFG is involved in a gamut of exciting and growing industries, contributing to products that make life more affordable, safer, and healthier for human beings and the environment.

True to the original vision of advancing both the art and science of composite plastic manufacturing, MFG has established itself as both an innovator of proprietary products and a respected partner to leading manufacturers around the world. The depth and breadth of the company as a specialist in FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) provides an unmatched asset to the world of manufacturing - a resource that customers large and small can turn to for composite materials expertise, dependable delivered goods and business integrity.

Privately owned and managed by the Morrison family, MFG has grown to include strategically focused facilities in 10 states and Mexico. The company continuously invests in new facilities, programs, technology, and personnel to better serve the market.

The 15 MFG entities are organized around two business model categories:

  • OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) businesses that function as dedicated manufacturing partners for specific industrial segments such as heavy trucks, automobiles, safety helmets, residential bathroom stalls, interior and exterior mass transit bus and train components, and wind energy blades;

  • Proprietary product businesses that produce and sell finished products directly into the market. MFG is a tier one supplier to a variety of industries including: material handling trays, containers, and flats; various FRP products used in the water and wastewater treatment industry; radomes and reflectors for defense and scientific antenna applications; beams and columns for building construction.

All of the MFG entities share a common integrated management, finance and marketing team, as well as two significant assets that are unique to the industry - MFG Research and the MFG Design Center.

Founder, Visionary
Charter Member, Plastics Hall of Fame

Robert Morrison and a handful of dedicated men and women collaborated in 1948 to mass-produce the first commercial products using polyester resins and fiber glass reinforcements.

In 1953 a watershed event transpired when MFG was chosen to produce all FRP body parts for the new Chevrolet Corvette. This success led to a sequence of other "firsts" - FRP boats, high volume truck and tractor components, bakery trays, concrete forms and satellite dishes among others.

More than 60 years later, the enduring pioneer spirit, commitment to customer satisfaction, and integrity in business that Morrison instilled lives on as a keystone of MFG's corporate mission.
